Ashwagandha, Vedic Type, Withania somnifera

Name: Ashwagandha, Vedic Phenotype
Scientific Name: Withania somnifera

Product Description:
An evergreen woody shrub in desert and tropical areas but capable of being an herbaceous, perennial in temperate zones; Belonging to the nightshade family it produces green berries encased in lantern like pods that mature to a pretty bright red. You know the seed pods are mature when the calyx becomes transparent showing the berry within. The name Ashwagandha is from the Sanskrit language and is a combination of the word ashva, meaning horse, and gandha, meaning smell. The root has a strong aroma that is described as “horse-like.” The Vedic phenotype is a bit more compact than the African phenotype.
Don’t confuse ashwagandha with Physalis alkekengi. Both are known as winter cherry.

Origination: Withania somnifera is cultivated in many of the drier regions of India, such as Mandsaur District of Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Sindh, Gujarat, and Rajasthan. It is also found in Nepal, China and Yemen.

Height: 35–75 cm (14–30 in) tall
Flower Color: small, green and bell-shaped / orange red fruit
Uses: Ethnobotanical. The berries can be used as a substitute for rennet in cheesemaking.

3in Potted Plant, GMO Free, Heirloom, Open Pollinated

Name: Cape Gooseberry
Scientific Name: Physalis peruviana
Family: Solanaceae

Cape gooseberries are probably most well-known for their berries which resemble a small cherry tomato in appearance, but are much sweeter and tart. When growing after the flowers fall off, the immature fruit forms an expanding calyx which will become the hush that surrounds the fruit. If the fruit is left inside the intact calyx husks, its shelf life at room temperature is about 30–45 days.
Despite its name, it is not botanically related to gooseberries such as the Ribes gooseberry, Indian gooseberry, or Chinese gooseberry.

Origination: South America
Recommended Uses: Culinary
Height: 3-6 ft
Hardiness: zones: to USDA zone 8, but frost tender
Flower Color: Yellow, purple-bown spots
Maturity: 80 days
Other Names: Goldenberry, Peruvian Ground Cherry, Pichuberry or Physalis

Growing Instructions:
Cape Gooseberry handles anything from full sun to part shade, making it easy to find a spot for as long as the other conditions are right. It grows in a wide range of soils, from light sandy soils to heavy clay soils. Cape Gooseberry plants prefers well-draining soil and, will still grow well even if the soil is nutritionally poor, preferring acidic soil.

Please try to understand that most of these plants are not garden center plants. They are wild perennial plants that will go dormant at certain times of the year. We do not have a set up that allows us to grow year-round so we have to grow with the seasons. If you buy a plant out of season, I will typically still send it because it is a perennial plant and will grow again when the climate allows it to grow again. I will never send out a declining annual plant unless I contact you first. Though most of these are easy to grow, they are NOT all beginner plants. This statement applies to medicinal plants, herbs, and some vegetables – not so much succulents, hoyas and cacti, though they go dormant too, they usually still look the same and don’t decline during dormancy. If you are unsure when a plant grows best or goes dormant, please don't hesitate to ask me. They don't all go dormant at the same time here in Jacksonville, Fl. I can't speak for anywhere else though with certainty.

You will receive a plant that is very similar to the plants pictured, however, they may have grown some, or, depending on the time of year, they could be semi-dormant. Ships in a 3" pot. We put great care into packaging our plants and problems have been VERY rare, but due to the nature of the items shipped, it is possible for leaves or small stems to bend or break in transit but generally this is only cosmetic, and the plant will recover once watered and placed in a bright location (But not direct sun since they just came out of the box!). If your plant arrives rotting or dead, we will replace it for you. Please contact me with photo proof within 24 hours of delivery of your plants. It is my commitment to provide you with a live, healthy plant. Please note that minor cosmetic damage, such as a few broken leaves or small stems, may occur during transit and is a common risk inherent in the shipping process. After 24 hours, my job is done and it is up to you (The buyer) to know how to keep it alive. I have only grown plants in Florida and will send out anything I feel comfortable will grow here. In other words, it is up to you to know the conditions that these plants grow in the part of the country you reside.

Heat packs are available for purchase with your item to use if cold weather is expected at the time of shipment. (Link to Heat Pack: bit.ly/40ugd4J ) Keep in mind some plants we carry are very tropical and even cold, not freezing, temperatures can kill them. I will cancel any order I feel won't make it safely to its destination without freezing. 📌IF YOU EXPECT COLD WEATHER, PLEASE PURCHASE A HEAT PACK! 📌 I don't make any profit off of them because they are a necessary shipping item in winter.

Care instructions are included with your order. Don’t hesitate to reach out to me for any extra advice you may require. We want you to be successful with our babies!  If you have any questions about this item or others, please message me and I will gladly answer them.

Unsafe
This looked like a great idea for my energetic pup until I charged it and turned it on. It worked for maybe 3 minutes and she loved it while it was moving. It stopped suddenly and when I opened the Velcro to pull out the ball to check it, it was VERY warm. Unsafe for human or dog. For over $20 I would expect more for a dog toy. Cheap and non working! I will request a refund !

Great For Dogs With High Prey Instincts
My high prey instinct, Husky/Malamute, loves it. The moment it started moving she was on it. Wouldn't let her brother near it. Not noisy. Has USB port so you can recharge it. It's Very cute. Easy to clean you just pop off the covering and toss it in the washer. Great Brain stimulation - that also allows them to get their energy out - without having to talk a long walk in the middle of winter. Just what I was looking for.

Good toy
My dog really loves toys, technically he loves to kill toys. This toy is supposed to be chew proof but after 1 day my dog managed to pry it open where the Velcro is to hold the ball inside and rip the Velcro out. Now when he shakes it the plastic ball comes flying out so it had to be removed. It also gets super slimy after he chews on it. He still loves to chew and shake the toy itself so overall it was a good buy since I don’t have to spend most of my day walking through my house picking up stuffing that he has pulled out of his other toys. He is not a big dog by the way just a Boston terrier with stuffed animal issues lol.

My puppy loves this!!!
UPDATE: my puppy still loves this toy, but I’m not super impressed with the craftsmanship. The fabric around the Velcro started to fray after just a few days and within a week the Velcro was completely detached from the fabric. She’s still able to play with it for now though. I’ll probably end up taking the ball out of the inside and putting it into a different toy and I’ll just sew some Velcro on so I can open and close it. It does stay charged a long time and my puppy enjoys playing with it but the novelty wears off a lot quicker now that she’s had it a couple of weeks. She’s usually into it for about 5 min and then it just vibrates its way into a corner until I turn it off. My 4 month old chorkie (6 pounds) absolutely loves this toy! I was afraid it might scare her at first but no, as soon as we turned it on she was like “LET ME AT IT!!” We’ve only had a it a few days but so far, it’s been a godsend when we are eating dinner or working or other times when we can’t entertain her as much as we would like to. It wears her out too, and after playing with it for about 20 minutes, it’s nap time. So far the battery life has been great. I fully charged it when it arrived and 3 days later it still hasn’t needed to be charged, and she has played with it for about an hour a day, in 15-20 min increments. I like that it has Velcro instead of a zipper, I think it’s a lot safer. The initial “Hello” when you turn it on is kind of loud but other than that, the noises it makes aren’t super loud. It repeats back the things you say, which took me a while to figure out. My puppy hasn’t barked at it but if you have a barker just keep that in mind, it will basically double the barks. It feels like it’s made pretty well, and my dog is kind of an aggressive chewer (she’s a teething puppy so of course she is) but so far it’s held up really well and she hasn’t been able to get the Velcro undone and get to the ball in the middle but if you have a bigger dog they might be able to. The Velcro is pretty strong though. Overall, it’s super cute and it makes my puppy happy which makes me happy! I definitely recommend to anyone who has a puppy or a dog with a lot of energy and needs something to keep them occupied for a while. I will say, after about 30 minutes max, my puppy is kind of over it but that’s a lot longer than anything else has kept her attention so I consider that a win. If I remember, I will update after a month or so to say how it’s holding up as far as charging goes and the overall quality of the toy, but so far I’m super impressed.
